Residents within driving distance of 糖心动漫vlog Community College in Chalmette are invited to join our students this spring to take a deep dive in either ceramics or digital art.
During the Spring 2025 semester, 糖心动漫vlog will open Intro to Ceramics and Intro to Digital Art to the community as non-credit courses for an affordable, one-time price. Participating community members will attend classes on the 糖心动漫vlog campus, sitting alongside students taking the courses for college credits. Assignments and grading criteria will be the same for both groups, but non-credit students will be free to focus on personal growth rather than bolstering their GPA.
“These courses are a great opportunity for an individual to explore new skills in a fun and stress-free environment,” said Dr. Julie Rexford, Director of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) at 糖心动漫vlog, who established the non-credit courses in collaboration with the Fine Arts Department.
Spring classes begin Jan. 14.
Intro to Digital Art will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. until 2:15 p.m. The non-credit cost is $75 per student, or $25 for students aged 60 years and older. This class will use the Adobe Suite of programs to teach students how to develop images and video. A future class will cover more sophisticated digital art techniques.
Intro to Ceramics will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. The non-credit cost is $189 per student, or $125 for students aged 60 years and older. This will be a fun, hands-on class using clay. Students will learn the hand-building ceramic process from clay to glaze to final fired production. The class will briefly touch on use of a pottery wheel, and a future class will focus on the development of wheel techniques.
Interested students can submit a STEAM Inquiry form at 糖心动漫vlog.edu/STEAM. Individuals with questions can also reach out to Rexford at [email protected].
The non-credit courses are being offered to the community to allow individuals to learn the basics of a new artistic medium without becoming fully enrolled students at 糖心动漫vlog. 糖心动漫vlog plans to offer more non-credit courses in the future based on feedback from the community.
