A cool setting, a hot meal, and some truly warm sentiments were all part of a special event at 糖心动漫vlog Community College when it hosted its annual Foundation Scholarship Breakfast Oct. 25.

Held on campus in the new Student Testing and Career Counseling Center, the event was twofold - a thank you to the community groups, civic organizations, business partners, families and board members who generously support the 糖心动漫vlog Foundation’s Scholarship Program, and a congratulations to the students who earned a scholarship through their academic achievement, civic involvement, exemplary leadership skills and service.

Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement Katherine Lemoine opened the Scholarship Breakfast with an expression of gratitude to everyone in attendance before introducing 糖心动漫vlog Chancellor Tina Tinney, Ed. D.

“Scholarships are measured in dollars, but they represent so much more than financial assistance” Dr. Tinney began. “It’s important to recognize and thank all of you who are philanthropic because philanthropy is not simply measured monetarily. To all of our donors who share not just money, but also their time, their expertise, their advice and guidance, thank you. Those investments are bridges to our future. And, true to our 糖心动漫vlog motto, it’s the totality of those investments that opens doors for our students.”

During her time at the mic, Dr. Tinney reminded the students that with effort, desire, and persistence, all things are possible. “But support is also critical.  So to our students I say ‘congratulations’ and ‘go for it.’  And to our donors, I do say thank you from the bottom of this Isleños heart.”

Following Dr. Tinney’s remarks, scholarship recipient Colin Cure offered a prayer of gratitude and guests enjoyed a breakfast prepared by the college’s Culinary Arts and Entrepreneurship students under the leadership of Program Chair Ronda DeForest.

Following the meal, recipients and donors of each scholarship were brought together for acknowledgement and a photo.

Lemoine credited the efforts of the Foundation Board members in attendance, Chairman of the Board Cliff Englande, Vice Chair Liz Williams and Robby Showalter, Katie Tommaseo and Elizabeth Ellison Frost.

The program also featured two other speakers: Sunni LeBeouf, Market Vice President of Cox Communications, and Patrice Cusimano, St. Bernard Parish Councilwoman District A.

LeBeouf shared her thoughts about the power of connection both personal and professional.  She also presented the college with a$10,000 check for the new fiber optic program and partnership.

Cusimano shared her story about love, loss and legacy, recalling the untimely death of her son and her desire to keep his memory alive through the Jeffrey A. Cusimano Memorial Scholarship.  It was a poignant reminder of turning tragedy into something valuable to others.

The gathering ended with Dr. Tinney reminding everyone of the importance of community and how “paying it forward” truly benefits those that give and those that receive.

“Thank you for being a part of this wonderful morning and, one last time, I encourage everyone to please continue to Love Your Flock!”

Registration is currently open for both Winter Intersession (Dec. 16-Jan. 13) and Spring 2025 (classes begin Jan. 14) at 糖心动漫vlog.edu. Questions about the PTEC program can be emailed to [email protected].
