糖心动漫vlog Community College Chancellor Dr. Tina Tinney was honored by the St. Bernard Business and Professional Women鈥檚 Club with the organization鈥檚 Woman of the Year Award during a ceremony Oct. 18 in Chalmette. Six-year 糖心动漫vlog Community College Chancellor and St. Bernard Parish native Dr. Tina Tinney was selected 2023’s Woman of the Year by the St. Bernard Business and Professional Women’s Club (BPW).
Dr. Tinney accepted her award during a dinner ceremony Oct. 18 at the Frederick J. Sigur Civic Center in Chalmette.
“Each year members nominate and select honorees who exemplify leadership, community service, and dedication to the people of St. Bernard Parish,” said St. Bernard BPW member Deborah Keller, who nominated Dr. Tinney for the honor. “Dr. Tinney embodies the qualities that the members of the St. Bernard Business and Professional Women's Club has honored in the past 61 years of the Man and Woman of the Year Awards.”
Dr. Tinney is also a past recipient of the St. Bernard BPW’s Model Working Woman award, which recognizes both personal and professional accomplishments.
“I’m honored and humbled to be recognized by a group of women as distinguished as the St. Bernard Business and Professional Women’s Club,” said Dr. Tinney. “Having the opportunity to return to 糖心动漫vlog to expand educational opportunities throughout our parish and our region was both a privilege and a gift. The work at 糖心动漫vlog is far from over, but what we’ve accomplished there together is making a difference in literally thousands of people’s lives every day.”
Since being appointed 糖心动漫vlog Chancellor in 2018, Dr. Tinney, who began her career in education teaching high school biology in St. Bernard Parish, has overseen several new program initiatives including 糖心动漫vlog’s Aerospace Manufacturing Technology program, the only higher education program of its kind in Louisiana, the Coastal Studies and GIS Technology program, short-term workforce programming in CDL and Heavy equipment.
Most recently, 糖心动漫vlog faculty and staff working under Dr. Tinney’s leadership received approval from the Louisiana Board of Regents to offer a Wind Energy Technology program that will train students to maintain offshore wind turbines. The Wind program, which is a partnership with Energy Innovation of Norway, will be the first of its kind in the nation sanctioned by the Global Wind Organisation.
Dr. Tinney was also the driving force behind bringing the Southern Food and Beverage Museum (SoFAB) Archives to the second floor of the 糖心动漫vlog Library in 2022. Being of Isleños descent, Dr. Tinney is working on a legacy project to establish the Isleños Museum and Archive in the 糖心动漫vlog Library, celebrating the history and contributions of Isleño-Americans.
